The George Ranch Historical Park in Houston
At the George ranch historical park is a facility in which you can step back in time and view 100 years of history from Texas. There are several modern innovative and interactive tour and programs available all which cater for the tourist in a unique fashion. Set amid 23,000 acres of working ranch and farmland, the Historical Park shares the stories of Texas in authentic historical settings. The setting of the park is also extremely tranquil and makes for a scenic relaxing stroll whilst taking in all the information available. Among the areas covered within the spectrum of the park are the struggles of the early pioneers to Texas and colonial life in Mexican Texas before it became a state. The craftsmanship of blacksmiths and the Victorian age are also dealt with as is their role of black cowboys in the development and history of Texas ranches. The park is open every day from 9 to 5 and has excellent facilities including a visitors centre and a gift shop. In total it is a 23,000 acre operating ranch and farm and has developed an innovative partnership with the Ford Bend Museum Association. This partnership has led to the creation of a 480 acre time capsule that is the George Ranch historical park.
